Papers, 1829-1864.

This collection contains letters, a receipt, funeral notice, a form of list or return, and a political speech. Of special interest are the three letters, written by Mary and Thomas P. Crawford, during the latter's tenure in the State legislature. The correspondence provides a brief glimpse of the Ala. legislative process. The speech, written by Crawford presumably for public presentation, places the creation of the United States into political historical context. There are also two items of Civil War interest, belonging to James W. Crawford. The first is a receipt for the purchase of shoes for the company of the "Bibb Greys" and secondly, a list of how much pork the Crawford family owed the Confederate government.
